Alice

Alice was born in Birdham and christened 24 November 1872. All that is known about Alice is that she owned a boarding house at 40 Frensham Road, Southsea, I don't think Alice married although I have not researched this.

The story is that she was fond of a Tipple "Drink" and that she had the most wonderful head of black hair which never went grey.

An Aunt as a child went to visit her on a regular basis and said that in the afternoon Alice would have a headache and so she would have to go upstairs to have a lie down. After an hour or so she would return full of spirits.
Later in life the Aunt realized how true this was. She was very fond of Alice and spent a lot of happy days there.

Very little is known about her life except that she lived at room 46,St Mary's House, Portsmouth.
I do however have in my possession her Holy Communion book,
