To date only one Australian Mayhead family has been traced back to the village of Oving in West Sussex England and they are the descendants of Thomas who Emigrated to Tasmania in 1854-57 to his 5th great grandson Ian Charles Cambell Mayhead, Information supplied by Geffory Ian Mayhead of Tasmania.
August 1999 bought a further connection with an enquiry from Carol Ahern concerningEVA MARY MAYHEADof Hastings, who married Charles Bennell, we were able to provide a family tree back to George Mayhead and Louisa Kench of Tangmere a village within walking distance of Oving, Eva is the sister of George Thomas A W Mayhead who's descendants still live in Hastings East Sussex
