KATEThis page is taken from a more complete works produced by Michael and Dee BOND Reproduced with our grateful thanks Kate with her husband Charles Battell ![]() Kate was born on 4 March 1871 in Birdham. Her occupation was as Ladies Maid. She met and married Charles Battell (Battle) on 26 September 1891 in Portsea Hampshire. Charles was a Merchant Seaman, They had nine children in all. The family moved about quite a bit as can be seen by the birth places of the children Charles was eventually medically discharged out of the Navy So with the pension and disability allowance Charles worked on a few Farms as a cowman and dairy man, They then went on to own a little market garden which enabled them to buy a general store. we still have a couple of receipts. ![]() During there stay in Midhurst they suffered the loss of two babies violet and violetta. They moved on to Liss Hampshire then lastly to Wooton, Abingdon were they spent the rest of there lives Kate was first to die on 13 February 1940 aged 68 and Charles on the 27 March 1945 aged 78 |
